The building of highways is a crucial element of infrastructure development, improving connectivity and fostering economic growth. Nonetheless, it presents considerable issues to the local ecosystem, especially with plant populations. This study examines the impact of highway development on native flora in Haryana (India), emphasizing habitat loss due to tree cuttings, soil degradation, pollution and the spread of invasive species. The paper examines tree cutting data and loss of local plant species to elucidate the ecological consequences of highway developments and recommends solutions for reducing these impacts while promoting sustainable development.
