“Measuring pre-patent and post-patent Performance: An Investigation of Selected biopharma firms in India”

The present paper examines the impact of product patents on the financial performance of the selected biopharma firmsin India. The analysis consists of examining the changes in the financial effectiveness of the firms during the pre and post patent periods by using nonparametric Wilcoxon signed rank test. The result of the study indicate Marketing Expenditure, Minority Shareholders Ownership, Size, Working Capital Ratio and Age of firms were significantly different between both the periods whereas Exports Intensity, Leverage, Research & Development Expenditure, Return on Net Worth and Return on total assetswere not significantly different between both the periods.
